Ok, I really just wanted to use, “Bad Ass” in my blog title but unicorns are bad ass, indeed.
In less than 24 hours I start a new adventure — My [Redacted] fellowship.
I am a bundle of nerves and I keep asking myself, did I study enough? Do I know enough of the basics? Did I do the best I could to prepare for this? What did I learn?
Well, in the last 3 weeks I have gotten through 50 chapters of Learn Python The Hard Way, I skimmed through Think Python, and made a set of flash cards to help memorize some important terms. I’ve committed 90 items to Github, I’ve asked a shit load of questions on StackOverflow — some of them good questions and apparently some of them bad but the point is that I am learning and that (at least to me) is the goal.
I am my worst critic so I won’t say that I did my best because there is ALWAYS room for improvement but I do feel proud of all that i’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time.
Tomorrow starts the real test, 10 straight weeks of GO, GO, GO — I will be tired, there will be days where I think about quitting, and I am going to miss my family BUT the amount of support i’ve received is beyond amazing and so very appreciated. Knowing I have so many eyes on me is also motivation in a way.
So, with that, i’ll leave you with some snapshots from the last three weeks.
I learned to print “Like this”
I learned about arguments and scripts, though I still don’t think I am 100% clear on this.
I learned that when I get frustrated, it shows in my code.
I learned that while loops are more confusing that a homeless person on house arrest.
I also learned that I need candy and caffeine to keep me going and that apparently, showers are optional.
Check out my Give It 100 page for those gems and more.
So, here goes nothing! Wish my luck!
