Baby Mika – Ashley McNamara – San Diego Photographer

I totally have baby fever right now. My guy isn’t a baby anymore and I miss when they are too small to fight your kisses off, I miss that fuzzy little newborn head, and I really miss that newborn smell! Baby M totally didn’t help cure the fever! I am so lucky to have lots of friends with babies so I can get my fix and go home! Don’t those squishy cheeks kill you! ….Sigh….She makes my ovaries ache..

Henna Belly Take II – Ashley McNamara – Henna Art – San Diego Photographer

I want to thank everyone who has emailed and blogged about the henna belly shots. I would never have guessed that I would get such an overwhelming response and its such a treat to see how many people were touched and inspired by the photos!

Anyway, I went back a couple of days later and took some pictures of the faded henna. Enjoy!

Ok I loooove fat babies! Who doesn’t love a fat baby though? :) I have been lucky enough to photograph this little chunky monkey two times already and she is one of my very best subjects! She totally loves the camera. Can you tell? :)

Maternity Henna – Ashley McNamara – Henna Art – San Diego Photographer

I love nothing more than doing a maternity shoot. There is just something so beautiful about the pregnant body I find it fascinating! So when my friend asked me to come along and document a pregnancy henna session I just couldn’t resist. I had never heard of maternity henna art before and just thought it was the coolest thing ever! For those of you who are not familiar with henna art it is all natural and has been used for thousands of years to adorn the hands and feet of women for weddings and other special occasions. Henna is made from a plant that has staining properties. The plant leaves are powdered and mixed into a paste with essential oils and other natural ingredients.

It took about 21/2 hours but the end result was completely worth it and oh so beautiful! I really cannot think of a more unique way to celebrate a pregnancy. I am only going to share a few photos because I really could just post them all night.
