Fast forward to last weekend.. I was in San Diego for a Half Marathon (that’s a completely different post) and I stopped by the Diamond Boutique in Del Mar to get my ring cleaned and the owner of the Diamond Boutique just happens to be Orousha’s mom, Mali, and I thought she might have shed a tear when she saw me walk through the doors because she wasn’t expecting me there that weekend.  She went on to tell me that the. “small party” had turned into a LARGE party, complete with In-N-Out burgers, gift bags the size of small children, and barn animals. Mali had been searching for a photographer all morning and asked me if I would be able to shoot the party, it was the day of my half  marathon so I did some quick math in my head and decided that I just couldn’t miss it.  I agreed to run FAST to make it in time for this party…Maybe not fast for most people but I ran it fast for me and I completed in 2 hours and 12 mins and had plenty of time to make it to the party… unfortunately, the roads were closed and I didn’t get there until about 20 minutes before the party ended.. I wish I had seen the whole party because even in the last 20 minutes I was able to shoot it was amazing.. the children carrying those giant gift bags to their cars was priceless and the In-N-Out burgers were just what I needed after a long run. Who caters In-N-Out? Genius!

These are cake details.. The cake had characters of all of the animals that the children would be seeing that day as well as an edible flower pot. Adorable!

Some of you might recognize the super fabulous orange couch. We have completed a series of images for the Ramos household, three 20×20′s of Padraic in the super cute stripey hat. When it’s complete I will share a photo of the display, it’s adorable! Padraic just turned one and was possibly the most cooperative one year old I have ever photographed.. most photographers will attest to the workout that is a one year session but this one was different. He just sat and looked and I looked back astonished thinking, “When is this kid going to run away?” he didn’t. He was perfect! As always.

Marie had criteria though she wasn’t just going to shoot any ole person, she wanted to do a kid’s shoot on the beach with a surfboard kind of Roxy style. I did some digging in old client files and found Ally, who doesn’t love a redhead? We had so much fun and Ally was a good sport because it was probably the coldest I have ever been in San Diego, it was ffffreezing!

After making funny voices, bopping myself on the head, and blowing bubbles didn’t work I decided that it was time to put on the fisheye and let Maddie enjoy some time in the water and I am glad I did because that is when Maddie loosened up, plus I ADORE fisheye pictures.

Ann, I know you’re excited!!! I hope you love them!

I was there for my good friend Marie Cox  who was going into surgery to have a hysterectomy.. CANCER SUCKS!  I wanted to be  there to help out, entertain the kids, and eat boberry biscuits ummmmmmm biscuits.. Did I just type that? 

While I was there I took some pictures of Marie’s awesome albeit big headed children minus the oldest Tayvonne who wouldn’t dare be photographed, I’ll get you next time Tay.. I was there for 5 days [I think] and I took 1600 pictures 90% of them were of Zavia that girl is my muse.. I love her.

Jakai, I miss your cute and cuddly self.

Within the first 5 seconds I was in the door Jakai was hanging on my leg and every morning he would sit in my lap and play with my hair.

Zavia, I miss your sweet dance moves.

Zavia is a self proclaimed diva. While Jakai was fixing my hair, Zavia was listening to music on my laptop or begging me to take video of her dancing… err… I mean make music videos.

Raleigh was a good time.. I did a couple of shoots while I was there  one with the awesome Heather Love and had some super BBQ at The Pit [check it out] with my friend Gretchen Mathison, thanks everyone for showing me an awesome time and thanks Marie for letting me crash your house.

A lot of people ask me if I have a studio and the answer is, No, I don’t but it is by choice.

I love  shooting in peoples homes, I love that each shoot is different, and my clients have such fabulous taste! Which leads me to little Padraic, his parents crib was pretty awesome.. Check out the orange sofa!

I tried to narrow the sneak peek down but it proved impossible.. this little guy was an angel!!
