Photoshop Tutorials- Leveling the Horizon Tutorial – Ashley McNamara – Danville Photographer

It is tutorial time WHOHOO!

Today I am going to teach a simple yet awesome technique to level a horizon. I am a camera tilter, always have been and always will be. The problem is that there is a time to tilt and a time to NOT tilt and the beach is a not to tilt sort of time. I like a nice level horizon so this is for all of you camera tilters out there.

Step 1: Open Image

Step 2: Select the Ruler Tool. It is 20 tools down and you might have to right click to see it.

Step 3: Once you have selected the ruler tool, draw a line across the horizon. This works on anything if you have a dresser, chair, wall. Whatever you want to straighten.

Step 4: Once you have drawn your line select Image, Rotate Canvas, and Arbitrary.

Step 5: This is where the magic happens. The ruler tool calculated how much to rotate the image to make it straight. Once you click arbitrary the math is done for you so you can just click ok.

Step 6: Now your image is straight but what about the extra canvas??

Step 7:  You can do a couple of things to take care of the extra canvas caused from straightening your image. You can clone the white spots out or you can crop most of it out which is what I do.

Step 8: Clone or patch any white areas that the crop tool didn’t take care of.

Now you are all done. Super easy right?

Following Ava as she grows through her first year.  She is now almost 8 months old and one of the daintiest babies I have ever met.  I just love her to bits!

It is the nature of babies to be in bliss.- Deepak Chopra

I’m always impressed by how blissfully sweet these two little girls are. Always smiles and happiness. I was able to get some beautiful shots at our latest appointment! Little Ava is growing up right before our eyes.

Setting the bar – Ashley McNamara – San Diego Pregnancy Photographer

Husbands everywhere sit up and take notice!

We wives are noticing more and more men like Lamine. Men who do not give hotbox flowers and stale chocolates for birthday gifts. Men who deliver the goods. Yes, Lamine set the bar very high for husband’s everywhere when he treated his beautiful wife, Alexis, to a maternity session for her birthday! With a new baby girl due in just a few short weeks, what could be sweeter?

I had such a great experience shooting this fun couple! The love between them radiates!
And can I just add that I loved how Alexis rocked that red dress!

Sweet Indeed.

Sweet Cheeks – Ashley McNamara – San Diego Infant Photographer

Hey folks. I am still playing catch up around here..I only have one to share today but I figured it was better than nothing. :) This little guy didn’t want anything to do with that hat but I just loved the way his sweet ittle round face looked in it.

Sleepy Guy – Ashley McNamara – San Diego Baby Photographer

I am falling a little behind on my blogging lately..it has been a bit busy around here :) I will try to catch up on my blogging this week.

This little guy is four weeks old and I was pretty convinced he would be too old to do any of the newborn “curled up” shots but much to my surprise he was an angel and slept for half the session.

A picture is worth a thousand words – Ashley McNamara – San Diego Family Photographer

My favorite pictures are those that do not need an explanation and this shoot was full of them. My friend Kristin Rachelle (also a San Diego photographer) asked me to photograph her family and if you have met Kristin you will know that she is a blast so I couldn’t resist the opportunity! There are lots of “say cheese” moments in this shoot but of course I picked the funny/wacky ones because that’s just how I am.

A hatter, but not of the mad Variety!

When I told Orousha that I enjoyed using hats in my infant shoots, she took me at my word and
upon my arrival she presented me with not one, not two, but a smorgasbord of hats! Flower hats, bunny hats, small hats, big hats, er..well, you get the idea, there were a lot of hats!. (Makes me wonder if Orousha isn’t a milliner in her free time!) All the same, they were beautiful and added even more to an already amazing photo shoot!
That’s not to say little Ava needs ”props” to enhance her beauty, just look at that head of hair! She’s a knockout already!

It’s going to be an amazing year watching Ava grow and you can rest assured there will be plenty of hats along for the ride.
I just had to include this picture of Ava’s big sister Asha..I love this little girl!

Baby Leonardo – Ashley McNamara – San Diego Photographer

Busy as a bee, So busy you can’t see straight, busy as a beaver, whatever cliche you prefer, you can pretty much guarantee it’s my personal mantra of late. I suppose I can’t compain about being busy when all of my time is being spent photographing some of the cutest babies in California.

Babies are cute. Babies are adorable. Babies take your breath away. And little Leonardo is no exception, this precious little guy is beyond words. If cuteness were weighed by the pound, he’d tip the scales! I thought about trying to smuggle him away in my camera bag, but thought better of it … I’m pretty sure his Mama wouldn’t have approved.

And what is that adorable concoction little Leonardo is  wrapped in you might ask yourself? It is the almost famous Cocoon made by good friend Marta. A life saver for all new mom’s who haven’t mastered the art of baby wrapping. This soft cocoon takes out all of the guesswork and is pretty cute to boot. You can check them out here.

Bellies and Babies – Ashley McNamara – San Diego Maternity Photographer

On your mark, get set.. SCHOOL!

While most folks are sad to see the summer days slipping by, I’m quietly rooting for Autumn to make it’s grand appearance. I’ll be much happier snuggling up in a comfy sweater than fanning myself in shorts and flip flops.

Not that this summer wasn’t spectacular, there were plenty of bellies, lots of babies and I had the immense pleasure of working with some new clients! I couldn’t have asked for more!

Hopefully Autumn will be just as eventful, with Anabell and Ricardo expecting their first little boy, I can only imagine how much fun we’re going to have when I’m finally able to meet him.
