And Baby Makes Four - Ashley McNamara - San Diego Photographer

In just a few short months the YOU family will be welcoming a new brother for little Joshua. I was so happy to be able to document this special time in their lives. These will be some of the last family photo’s they have before this beautiful family of three becomes a gorgeous family of four.

Pregnancy Boudoir - Ashley McNamara - San Diego Photographer

This was sooo much fun!!! I have wanted to do a Maternity Boudoir session for a long time, but it’s hard when you’re pregnant, you feel HUGE, and you definitely do not feel sexy… Well, Kristin is bringing sexy back! :) I mean how cute is she? Right?! …sigh… I wish I looked that perfect when I was pregnant! :) So, I say take off your clothes and celebrate that belly because soon, that belly will be replaced with a baby and then you really won’t feel sexy!

San Diego Acupuncture - Pregnancy & Fertility treatments

Today I photographed a pre-birth acupuncture session. If you are like me and have never heard of such a thing, what pre-birth acupuncture does is help to increase the likelihood of delivering on the due date, reduces the time of labor, and substantially reduces the need for interventions and Cesarean sections.

Today’s session was done at SD Fertility Acupuncture and they specialize in fertility and pregnancy acupuncture. Being infertile myself I found the whole thing completely fascinating.

One of the things I learned was that certain points on the body are known to help the cervix soften and dilate and others aid in helping the ligaments relax and loosen for the easy passage of the baby.

Be sure to check out their website for more interesting facts.

Maternity Henna - Ashley McNamara - Henna Art - San Diego Photographer

I love nothing more than doing a maternity shoot. There is just something so beautiful about the pregnant body I find it fascinating! So when my friend asked me to come along and document a pregnancy henna session I just couldn’t resist. I had never heard of maternity henna art before and just thought it was the coolest thing ever! For those of you who are not familiar with henna art it is all natural and has been used for thousands of years to adorn the hands and feet of women for weddings and other special occasions. Henna is made from a plant that has staining properties. The plant leaves are powdered and mixed into a paste with essential oils and other natural ingredients.

It took about 21/2 hours but the end result was completely worth it and oh so beautiful! I really cannot think of a more unique way to celebrate a pregnancy. I am only going to share a few photos because I really could just post them all night.
